OUCH!

Recently Jared and I have been trying to get back in shape, you know work out, run, swim, bike...all the stuff we forgot how to do when we had kids. We decided it was time - we have set some goals to help us on our journey. We will be running a 5K in July, Jared wants to do a triathlon in August and I am contemplating a 10K in September. So yesterday after working 12hrs I got home around 8pm and decided to finish putting the kids to bed so Jared could go on a bike ride. Off he went....only down and around the corner and then he wrecked on his road bike. I saw him walking up the driveway carrying his bike. He had only been gone 5 minutes. I ran to the garage and knew something was wrong. His face was bloody, clothes torn and he had some good road rash. He did fine going down our hill but hit a wash board patch in the pavement going too fast and his front tire quickly came out from under him going into another turn and he landed on his face, well his chin. His visor on his helmet broke off and we figure his visor and his chin hit at the same time and this protected his nose. He had a pretty good laceration on his chin and definitely needed stitches. Jared's dad came to stay with the sleeping kids and we headed off to the ER. 4 hours and 10 stitches later we were home. We finally got in bed around 1:30 and I had to be up by 6am to work again. Here is a before picture while waiting in the ER....
Jared has been feeling pretty good today, a little sore but that is to be expected. We are so thankful that it wasn't worse. Thankfully we head to the beach tomorrow for some fun...but we have to pack first - Ugh! I'm never gonna get any sleep.
