Back to Normal

Image
Well things are finally getting back to normal in our household after being sick all last week. Aidan actually had another small episode of throwing up on Tuesday night, but we have had no other episodes in 2 days so I think we are in the clear. Today was PJ day at Aidan's preschool - he wore his Superman PJ's. He said they popped popcorn and had a slumber party - how fun! I also had the chance to have my parent teacher conference with his teacher Miss Wilma. She reports that Aidan is doing very well and is a 'delight' to have in class. She said that he is ahead of other kids in most areas and is ready to start bringing home the easy reader books, since he is sounding out words all the time. The other day he read the word 'rescue' off of Adley's t-shirt. I am so proud of him as to how well he adapted to school and how he is so willing to learn new things. Hopefully he will be reading by the beginning of next year. Aidan recently told me that he wants t...

More sickness

Sorry it has been awhile since I posted. Our entire family was hit by a stomach virus this past week. It seemed like everyday another member of the family started with some part of the virus. First it was Aidan, then Eli, then Jared, then Adley and then me. It has been a rough week, but thanks to Gatorade, gingerale, Pedialyte and my mother in laws homemade chicken noodle soup (which was fantastic and we were very thankful) I think we are all starting to feel a little bit better. Unfortunately the sickness caused Aidan to miss his very first field trip and a Halloween party that our family was invited to by a kid from Aidan's preschool class. I know there will be more parties and more field trips but I felt sorry him - he had been counting down the days until he got to go to both of them. Hopefully we are done with being sick for a while as we are heading to AZ in a few weeks. I will post more during the week as Eli is now crawling and pulling up on things - I will try to get h...

What we've been up to . . .

Image
Funny Story - Last Thursday I let Aidan stay after preschool for lunch bunch. When I picked him up I asked him how his day went. The first thing out of his mouth was 'Mom, Emma likes me and I'm in love with her. We are going to get married'. I then asked Aidan what happened to Ella Lee or 'Ella S' as he likes to call her. She is girl that he liked because he said that she wears pretty bows in her hair. He said he still likes her but that he likes Emma and Lauren now too. If this is how it is in preschool already - what is it going to be like when he is 16!!! Not so funny story - I asked Aidan what he learned at school this past Thursday - following all of the marriage talk from above he told me that his friend John told him that sometimes boys marry boys and girls marry girls. I was in shock - I thought this wasn't an issue I was going to have to deal with until he was at least in the 5th or 6th grade - but preschool!!!! So I quickly told him that it wa...

"We never do anything fun"

The other day we were coming home from Target and Aidan was mad about something - I can't remember - and he started saying 'We never do anything fun'. This was the same day that we had just come home from camping the night before. Jared and I just looked at each other like 'you have got to be kidding me - this is the thanks we get'. So we started to name off the fun things that we have done with the kids lately. We named the obvious - 'we took you camping last night', and Aidan replied with the usual 'But that wasn't my idea' or 'that wasn't fun'. Then we said - 'we took you to the zoo two weeks ago' and Aidan responded with another 'But. . .' So we proceeded on with our list. 'Grandpa Bird, Andrea and Ashlyn came to visit us', again another 'But. . ." So we just kept listing - 'Did we go to Pisgah Inn, did we go to the Fish Hatchery, did we go to Lake Lure, we went to Pigeon Forge for a wee...

7mos old and ready to crawl

Image
Eli is now 7mos old and wants to be mobile so badly. He has now figured out how to get up on his knees. He can actually stand up on his toes with his hands still on the ground. He kind of rocks back and forth and if something is in front of him - he will just lunge forward and back down on his belly - hoping that he has gained an inch or two to get to the toy that he so badly wants. He does eventually get there. Here is a picture of him on his knees and a video of him this morning rocking on his knees. I fear that in a week or so he will be crawling everywhere. Which means I will then need to barricade my house with gates. Eli practicing

Faith of a 4yr old

Recently Aidan has been having bad dreams again at night. He had them a lot when he was around 18mos old but then they went away. I think with the new change and nervousness of going to preschool they started up again. He is usually not awake even though he is crying or screaming or waving his arms. Usually turning the TV on and getting him to focus on something snaps him out of his dream. Anyways the other night he was afraid to go to sleep. I told him that we could pray to Heavenly Father and ask him to take away the bad dreams. He thought that was a good idea but wanted to know how Heavenly Father would do that and why. I told him that Heavenly Father didn't want him to be afraid and that if he believed or had faith in Heavenly Father then his dreams would go away and he wouldn't be afraid anymore. He said he had faith that Heavenly Father would take away the bad dreams - so we prayed and he went to sleep without any problems. He woke up in the morning and the first...
